No more melted powder coat! Big bore pics and fresh paint on the heads!
Ok, so even with my "pull" with Ducati, I couldn't convince them to extend the goodwill on replacing my melted heads...Then I had this little issue...
the "bullet proof"DS engine had an oil pump failure...
Next thing I know its 1080 hi comp big bore time and Ducati Performance cams...and lots of new innards... But here is the cleaned and updated cylinders and heads...1300 degree heat resistant paint that actually dissipates heat and resists oil, gas and dirt...
preeeeeety.......
Next week, the case will be split and I hope my new crank from Ben Fox Racing will be back...balanced, knife edged and polished with the addition of new bearings (ceramic where applicable) and ConRods.

Oil pump failure....
Yikes, how many miles, tracked, any idea why it failed?
Good luck with the build, looks like a beautiful beast in the making.

Beautiful pistons. What did you order? Pistal? I think mine were 11:1 and the dome wasn't nearly that high. With that high dome you know it will have a really high compression ratio. What is the CR going to be? Any reason you didn't go with the larger pistons that yield 1123cc?

Hey Trav!
Mine are the FBF. I went the 1080 because the guys at Pistal told me the 1123 might begin to teeter on the edge of reliability. More heat...oil blow by etc.. Plus, we buy a good bit from them so I got them at a "special price" that translated to -no brainer! FBF are made by Wiseco which is right in my back yard and I try to support local business as much as possible. HMF did my exhaust...ironically, he makes the FBF exhausts...
The CR will also be 11:1. They claim a "solid 10% hp gain at the rear wheel" with no software. As I said, with the Ducati Performance Cams, the Beast R intake, exhaust and software, I am hoping for 105-110ish...

I did a similar build
Engine-
1080cc Ducshop bored cylinders
98mm Pistol Pistons 11.5:1
Carrillo Rods
Lightened Stage 3 crank from Ben Fox
Alloy Flywheel
2mm bigger intake and 2mm bigger exhaust valves
Porting and headwork done by CR Axtell
Ported Intake runners
48mm bored Throttle bodies
DP cams
Wasp Intake
Alloy Belt pullies
EVR Slipper clutch
45mm Arrow exhaust
Microtec ECU and dual Lambda controller.
It runs great, you'll love it,
I haven't Dyno'd it yet but I think 110 would be a little optimistic, 105 maybe if I am lucky.
One of these days I will dyno it just for fun.
