PS to 1972 IMOLA Replica questions
So I have been thinking about trying to make my PS look a bit more like the original 1972 Imola winning bike.
I have a question about the decals and a discrepancy:
I see pictures of the bike with Dunlap decals just under the red Ducati lettering in some pictures but then other pictures that are lacking the same decal. My instinct tells me that the Dunlap decal was not present for Imola but was on the bike during another race.
The tail decal looks like it was on both sides right?
Anyone know something Google images doesn't?
Another question is, has anyone actually made replicas of the decals or found someone who has made them? I know JC had a connection regarding the red Ducati lettering. Anyone actually go for it?

What about the bodywork?
Would you get an Imola style seat unit from JCPak or Diopa? The modern take on the Sport Classic rear end is pretty unfaithful to the original.

Oh I haven't forgotten about that. Just working on the decal element first.
Lots of views but no answers??? I can understand. When one googles images of the Imola 200 he will find conflicting results as far as the front end decals are concerned...
Anyway, give my best to the UK London. I lived at the corner of Great Russell St. And Tottenham Court Rd. when I was acting and playing rugby for the London Skolars.
Good times...

I work near by, so I'll blip my throttle on TCR for you.
As for your answer on decals, I think you found it yourself. Decals and Livery were a little less policed in the 1970s than they are these days in F1 and MotoGP. In your case, most people would pick one genuine photo and replicate that.

Jason,
I realize this may not be much help, but still ..... attached a few (smallish) pics of the original Paul Smart - man and bike. Maybe these are the same you have already found.
Good luck with your hunt.

Thanks guys.
Yeah, as you can see each of those pix show conflicting configurations. I guess I just have to make up my mind.
Now, the next question would be who does this type of work? Anyone have a lead as far as making replicas of these decals? If so, what would be an estimate for price.
It's too bad there isn't a decal set offered like some other replica bikes.
Thanks again guys. If you see or hear of anything like this feel free to let me know.
Cheers

Try Cutgraphix in Brisbane, Australia
They do a good job and ship world-wide. I've used them a few times.

I use LR-Designs in the UK. Hopefully you'll find someone a little more local.
