HELP with 2007 Sport 1000 PLEASE REPLY
Hi. I am new to the forum. I just bought a 2007 SC Biposto with 5,000 miles on it. I was told to empty the gas out of the tank because it was old.
This is what I have done: Removed gas tank, emptied gas, changed spark plugs, and put the tank back on with new premium gas.
The battery is dead/old so I had it hooked up to a battery charger. When the battery is hooked up, the yellow immobilizer light blinks. When I remove the charger, the yellow light goes out. So I'm not sure if the battery is holding a charge.
THE REAL ISSUE: After doing all of the above I put the black key in and turned it to ON (with the battery still hooked up). I hear a lot of buzzing/ computer noises. Red, green, and amber lights on the panel. Both speedometer and tach are blinking orange all over. The speedometer is counting up. F24, F25. The start button won't function. I let this go on for a good 30 seconds. Then I turned it to off. Turned it back ON. Same thing.
This is the first time I have tried to start the bike. I only have 1 black key at the moment. The CODE CARD and other black key and red key are being mailed to me. Is the immobilizer engaged or something?
PLEASE give me some advice. I am just trying to get the bike started. Do I have to get the code card code? When I press the hand brake with the key turned to ON, the tach dial moves up and down. OR is this just normal?
The bike has not been started in over 6 months. So is the computer just going through a check process that takes a few minutes? Or am I in big trouble here? I can post a youtube video if necessary.

get a new battery, probably not enough voltage to get everything to initialize correctly.

Okay. I charged the battery over night. I am going to install it again and try and start it today. I will keep you updated.
Also, I posted on a different thread about the tank expansion. Form what I can see, mine is very minimal. I was reading about the 5 year emission warranty. This bike is a 2007. If I chose to, could I request a new tank before the five years expires? I would like to get one and then Caswell coat it.

A couple of things:
1. Did your bike ever start? Did you have a chance to drive it before you purchased it? If so, then your ECU (computer) and key are good and like a previous poster said, your battery just needs a charge.
2. No need to put premium fuel in these. They do not require it and therefore you are just waisting your money.
3. You can read up on the class action suit regarding your bike here. www.GirardGibbs.com/Ducait.asp
To summarize, based on when the bike was first purchased (mine was an 07 that was first purchased in May 1999), you have 5 years of getting your tank shimmed or replaced. Is your tank loose?
Cheers!
SJ

What's "F24, F25." Is that something displayed on the LED? If so it is not normal - wondering if it is an error code or something.

get a new battery. Once a battery falls below a half charge or dead it is virtually impossible to get it to come back around.

@ YellowDuck, yes it was on the display. I am going to try the fully charged battery / new battery. Started at F1. Again, it was like all of the electronics were spazzing out.
@slj333 I bought this from a friend. He said the bike runs great. I never had a chance to start it because the bike was stored for a long time and the gas had broken down in the tank. I didn't want the gas to muck up the injectors any further by trying to start it. So I changed the gas and spark plugs. I figure the premium for now would help negate the crappy broken down gas. This is the first time I have tried to start it. I hope the ECU and the key are good. If not, I will have to get the other black key ASAP and try it.

Doesn't the fuel light come on when your low on gas and F01 comes on speedo side? counts up i think F1 F2 F3 and so on about how many miles your going on low fuel.
maybe f24 means its never reset itself after gas was put in it or no one filled it up ever again?
and should'nt it be counting down? hey just a thought but isnt more helpful to know the distance you have left to travel than to be excited about how far you can acutally go before your tank goes dry?

How long was the bike stored with fuel in it? Though you changed out the fuel in the tank there is still fuel in the lines and injectors So you would need to clean out the lines AND the injectors, which means removing said parts from the bike to clean and test.

get a new battery, as posted by others.
I have a monster that was stored for 2 years, and its carbed. Started up with no problem. Gas doesnt break down as fast these days. Batteries go much faster. At worse you might need some plugs.
