Battery Help!
After being recommended Racing Batteries by Tim & Kev at Spirit of the Seventies, I spoke with them and they recommended that instead of swapping out my OEM YT12B BS battery with the direct replacement - their RB 400010
RB400010 Racing Battery they suggested two small units, wires in parallel, which are here... RB120010 Racing Battery
They've now been hooked up as they should, but the bike won't start. Cold cranking amps are supposed to be enough, but amp hours are decreased. My local tech thinks the ECU demands more power.
Can anyone who understands these things help?
Thanks

Have you read this…
"You will also need a bigger battery if you have a Ducati or BMW motorcycle fitted with the stock ECU"
You have to replace the stock YT12B-4… so the type you have chosen is to weak…

LD - I initially fitted a slightly smaller battery but it didn't have enough power. The guys at Racing Batteries exchanged it for the RB400010.
I then had a tray made up to about a third of the depth of the battery, cut a section out of the undertray and mounted it where the regulator originally sat. I'll post some pictures latter this morning.

Here's what I'm running. So far, so good. It's mounted under the seat where the regulator used to be.

Thanks for these replies guys.
Racing Batteries have offered me a choice of either a third unit (free of charge) or to swap out with the RB400, also FOC. Can't say fairer than that - and if it ran your bike without trouble, Hoppy, then I would expect similar success...?
These things are always a bit trial and error.

Just curious...

"The only problem I've had is attractive women divesting themselves of their clothing and rubbing their naughty bits on my leg while they lick the gas tank. Makes it hard to pull away from a red light,...... sometimes."

They tell me that you look after the battery in the same way as any normal unit, and that includes running an Optimate, or similar.

On mine you need a special charger. 6amp I think. It's $50 and does a complete charge in 10 minutes.
Something like this, though mine is the Westward 1JYV4A.
Westward 1JYU5 Battery Charger, 6/12V (M), 55 A Start
