Tire pressures

What is the safest low pressure we can run our tires at,mine call for 42 lbs ,which I find to be way to much, extremely hard ride.

Rtfm !

Best be checking your manual ASAP !
42 PSI sounds like the MAXIMUM tire manufacturers pressure - NOT what you should be using. It'll handle like crap....

Correct pressure are (converted from metric/BAR) around F32PSI R 36PSI (for my GT1000).

I run 30 front 28 rear cold on the street.

If you want to know "how low you can go" on the track I run 25 or 26 cold on the rear because the tire gets so hot that it ends up at 31 hot.

42 is kind of absurd. It will get you long tire life and better gas mileage but far less traction.

For track stuff, rule-of-thumb is that you want to have about a 10% rise in tire pressure from cold to *just off the track* hot. You might want to up the cold temp to about 28 on your rear and see how that works for you. Too hot of a tire will make it greasy feeling and will feather the edges.

My manual says 2.2bar each for the Phantoms. I am running that in my 999 wheeled Dunlop Sportmaxx tyres.

I run 34 on the Front, 36 on the Rear.

Recently I picked up my bike from a service, and riding home through a great twisty section of road I found that I was struggling to hold my line through the corners, and had to back off and take it easy. It wasn't until I went for my next ride and checked tire pressures and found that the service centre had pumped the tires up to 42psi

Setting the pressures back to what I normally run and all was good again !!!

Looking at the tire pressures listed in this thread I might experiment with lower pressures.
