Tank being replaced. Questions?
I dropped off my SC1000Se at Mancuso SW here in Houston for tank spreading. I spoke to the service manager and asked if they had anyone local to seal the tank. His response was that the tank problem has been fixed and that Ducati Is using a different type of composite for the tank that will not spread. At this point I figure he is just misinformed. But Ducati did Approve my new tank. Should arrive in the next few weeks.Should I go ahead and send it out to be sealed Or just Wait to see what happens and when it spreads just take her back for a new tank. I did ask him what happens if/when it happens again. His response was they will file another warranty claim on it. What is my time limit or Does the warranty restart all over for the tank when they replace it.Just not sure what to do here.

Getting it sealed is cheap insurance IMHO. Had mine sealed a year ago with no issues, seal it and forget about it. From my understanding, warranty does not reset with new tank and Ducati is still using the same material.

Yes they are . They purchased the building and the franchise that was eximport cycles. They have just about every new Duc you could want and a few used ones as well. Very nice shop. Not sure how good the techs are but they got my new tank approved in less than a week, so far so good other than them telling me that the tank issue is resolved.

The trick is probably gonna be intercepting the tank before they put it on the bike and gas it up. You may want to get that communication process started ASAP.

1. Would not believe Ducati changed anything for the tank composition, not when they have always argued they could not do that, because of the homologation issue.
2. Would be interested in how quickly you can get your tank. Nice that they approved the replacement, but the 07 SE tank is about the rarest of them all, so you would be lucky if they can locate one to send you.

I was under the impression that they would send a brand new tank that has been painted to match my SE from the factory. That Is the information I received from the service manager at the Dealer.
Is he wrong ??

Just an FYI, having the tank coated or modified in ANY way will void the warranty. And since some have reported tank spread after coating, well... you're SOL if it happens.
Just saying.
