Help me decide to buy SC
I am keeping my eyes on crushed 2009 Sport Classic Biposto. The bike looks more or less Ok but the dash is damaged and keys are missing. I know Ducatis have an issue with immobilizer. Given that a good locksmith can help me cut the keys even the one with the chip from Ducati, I will still be missing the actual Security Card and/or Red Key. So, here are my questions
1) Can I re-flash ECU and disable immobilizer function? (Moto-Lab EVR?)
2) Also since the clocks look messed up, I am thinking on putting on something like Koso on a cheap side or
Translogic
Aim
Motec
Debus&Diebold
Can it be done if re-flush takes care of immobilizer problem?
3) Even though the bike is Biposto can the fairing from Sport Classic 1000S be installed? What would I need besides obvious bracketry for the plastic, front and side plastic cowl and some screws/bracket for the center nut to hold the fairing bracket? My main concern, as I was informed, is that Biposto gas tank has some small diference in comparisson to S model. Can I keep the Biposto Gas tank and how will it look? WIll it prevent me from installing front fairing?
So, far these are my main concerns at this time. If everything pans out Ok I will be doing a special build over winter time. Obviously front end will need to be swapped. I don't know if I want to swap the rear to a Monster single sided Arm but I first need to get the bike at the reasonable enough price. I honestly don't care if it has salvage title cause the will be barely any stock parts left and the bike will be built to my liking.
All answers will be highly appreciated

I think Desmo-Porsche messes with re-coding keys/dashes etc. Call them and see what they say.

Reference your fitting of the fairings from a SC1000s you are unfortunately you are right firstly there is a totally different headlight fitting, i am not sure if this is the brackets you were refering to, but it does have a seperate column/ bracket that connects to the headstock.
The petrol tank is also different with extra lugs that hang off of the bottom of the tank which house the mounting points for the top of the fairing, the lower mounting points ar not an issue as they are simple bent metal plates and that mount off of standard fittings.
But like you, I am sure there must be some people who have already looked at this and so hopefully some will come online soon with some simple solutions. As per my army moto - ADAPT AND OVERCOME!

Having had to go through this on an 848, let me just say you will get mixed advice. Nobody is intentional but there are a lot of "I think..." comments you are likely to get. Go to dealers or manufacturers of products that know what they sell will in fact work!

+1. Sure, there's a lot of knowledge here, but your circumstances, plans, and the potential investment required of you call for a level of expertise that only dealers and manufacturers can provide.

I went through this in 2006 with a Monster I purchased second hand.
At that point in time the ECU/Immobilizer sets weren't that expensive- I think I paid ~700 for the set. I think they have gone back up into the thousands now.
If you have no keys I would suggest looking for a matched set on Ebay or the like. I'm sure you could have a key cut by the right lock smith to operate the seat lock and ignition key, although not having a single chipped key will be a problem. The gauge cluster houses the Immobilizer which is the biggest part of the system. With no red key there is no way to make the immobilizer (guages) match the ECU.
Your Options are purchase new/used matching ECU and Immobilizer set (You don't need to program a NEW Immobilizer/ECU to have a red key- It will simply "count down" on the gauge cluster every time you turn the key on. Not a problem at all, just a formality. The bike will then start with ANY black or red chipped Ducati key that turns the ignition. It doesn't matter if it is coded to your bike or not....FYI) You could also get a Nemisis ECU or what not. This would probably allow for you to also use your guages you are looking to use.
The gauges are $700 or so and the ECU maybe $1500 plus. You might be able to get by with just a Gauge set although I'm really not sure. The right (knowledgeable....good luck with that) dealer could set you straight. People sell used Ducati/Termignoni Performance ECU's right? they must somehow be programmable multiple times?
Anyhow, good luck. Its all doable but costs $$.

It is possible to swap out the dashboard, although I do not think that anyone here on the forum has done it.
I have researched into what is required to change the dash, and the info that I have can be found here:
https://sites.google.com/site/ducati...ging-dashboard
If you proceeed with this project I am happy to help out.
