When it cuts out and sounds like you've toasted the motor, ... shift.

You will hit maximum torque at around 6000, and maximum horsepower at around 8000. There's not much point in abusing the engine much higher than that. But if you want to try it, you will hit the rev-limiter HARD at around 8800.

Are those numbers for a stock engine? I believe the DP ECU moves the rev limit to around 9500. I don't really know how it alters the power band in terms of max power, though.

Bike has the DP Race ECU with the 2:2 Termis. It also has the Ducshop Hyperstacks and a PCIII. Had the bike dyno'd during which it hit the rev limiter repeatedly, always below 9000.

Truthfully, of all the mods I have done to my bike, I think doing the velocity stacks and the PCIII was the least rewarding. You get more linear acceleration, and can feel the power gains in the mid to upper range. The Termi's have always been very loud, and now, above 6500, the velocity stacks sound crazy.

The downside is I felt a loss in power in the 3500 and below range. I think the more restrictive air flow of the stock air-box must have helped the lower end. The other thing is my bike is definitely running hotter now, maybe 10-15 degrees hotter, and don't know why. Trust me, we checked it every which way and the bike is definitely not running lean. My guess is the engine is just higher performing, resulting in more heat.
