Seat Cowling Modification

I wanted to tweak the seat cowl on my bike with some art. I first was thinking of a 40's pinup bomber art, but decided against it.

I found this Ducati 250 primary inspection cover on ebay. I think it is from the 60's or 70's. I thought this would be a unique touch with actual depth rather than a decal. I had to heat it to get it to curve with the cowl. I left it unpolished to retain the vintage look.

Next step is to work on putting a stripe on the tank and cowling.

Thoughts or opinions?

What an excellent idea. It lends a tasteful bit of metal authenticity to the plastic tail of the bike and looks great. Good job. New ones are currently offered on ebay for $50. Are those rivets holding it on?

That's a nice piece, and if you can emphasize the vintage aspect with the rest of your mods, I think it will fit in very nicely!

I used small bolts so I can remove if needed for any reason. I sanded the ends to get them to match the worn look of the the piece.

Thanks. I like the fact that it is reusing a piece from an old bike. I don't know the history, but it's fun to think of this piece living on with my bike.
