Ducati Logo

I gotta ask, does anyone know what the slashed circle in the Ducati Logo refers to or the reasone for it? While it is argueable that the alternating quadrants of the BMW logo represent the companies early foray into Aircraft and thus the logo represent a propeller, nonetheless it is a colorful explanation. So what is the Ducati slashed circle?

the old ducati logo, referred to as "the bean", represents the
ducati employees strong desire for a proper coffee break.

I always assumed it's supposed to be a stylized "D."

Called the "dynamic D". Not sure it really stands for anything. Just someone's idea of cool at the time.

What's the timeframe, how long has the "Dynamic D" been in use?

The Dynamic D appeared shortly after Texas Pacific Group took over from Cagiva in 1996. The logo was used from 1997 to 2008.
