900SS kickstand?
I just picked up a 900SS a week ago and I noticed how the bike doesn’t lean a lot when parked on the kickstand. It’s almost upright.
Did anyone’s 900SS ever fall over by itself while on the kickstand?
Or been accidentally pushed over while parked? I don’t think it would take a lot of effort to push it over, especially when parked on uneven pavement.
The same thing happens on my ST3, but the ST3 leans just a bit more than the 900SS. I’ve heard of a few ST3 falling over by themselves.
Anyone modify their kickstand on the 900SS so the bike leans more?
I guess I can’t believe that Ducati would design a kickstand that would allow the bike to fall over so easily, so maybe I’m just being paranoid is all

Has the bike been lowered? That would effect kick stand height. You could take it apart, put some heat on it and gently bend it, but it would stick out more when retracted.

Have you checked your suspension sag, the position of the forks and the shock type? I am thinking the bike may have been lowered.

Ha! Great minds...
I would fix the lowered first before changing the stand.

maybe look into the CycleCat lower kickstand...I think the mounting for the Monster one is almost exactly the same....that could cure your ailment!

Also, the 1999 SS had a cast aluminum side stand, whereas the later models used the (cheaper) steel part. I think the lengths were different between the two.

Mine leans way over... I always check it for stability before I fully get off.. usually light pressure on the bars will lift the front wheel off the ground. Nearly everyone else thinks they forgot to put the stand down if they park my bike.
ps. I had the stand sink into the bitumen one day, 1/4 " so that and the camber on the road meant she fell down BOOM.. I was sitting beside her on the non stand side then looking at here lying on the road.
+1 for lowered issues.

I have a 99 900SS
My 99 900SS lays over nice with the kickstand. The ride height is key.

Well, I can’t imagine how this bike cold be lowered, since I sat on another 900SS and then on this one at the dealership. I compared the two bikes, it seemed that the custom seat on my bike has about 1.5” of padding missing from the seat compared to the stock seat, allowing me to reach the ground better with my feet, I’m still not flat footed.
I reach the ground on the 900SS same as on my ST3, which I bought new and have shaved 1.5” of padding form the stock seat. The seat height on the 900SS and the ST3 is the same at 32.3”.
Maybe the shock is different on the 900SS, that’s all that I can come up with, but how could I know for sure? I’m not familiar with this bike or the SS line and I don’t know anyone that has one that lives near me to compare.
Just from looking at it, the shock looks identical to the one on my ST3. I'm confused.
