SS/SP Fork Pictures Please.
This is for the 1995 Supersport 900 SS/SP I was hoping some of you have some pictures of the top of your forks at the upper triple clamp, and some pictures of the lower triple clamp. If you have some could you post them up please? Also could you take millimeter measurements of the forks above the top triple clamp and the distance in mm's from the bottom of the lower triple clamp to the bottom of the fork tube? I would appreciate it, especially the pictures. Thanks.

What is the correct torque value for the lower triple clamp fork pinch bolts? Both of my manuals just say "tighten them well". Stupid advice if you ask me.

That 10mm above is going to be more like it. I do not have a manual for the older SS even though I have one. I have the SBK forks installed and the height is 460 mm from the bottom of the bottom yoke to the axle C/L. That is a good starting point. Bottom yoke bolts, head and threads greased, 20 N/m top yoke bolts greased 30 n/m.
Hope that helps!

Mine were 15mm above and after a rebuild I installed them at 20mm above.
Only a day ride since then but nothing negative to report.
I also installed the Ohlins rear, but not too sure how much that raised it, but it sure leans over on the sidestand now.

Accoriding to the Ducati 900SS service manual:
Measuring from the bottom of the lower triple clamp to the top of the upper fork tube (not including any of the cap) the spec distance is 268mm. This is where I have mine set.
This height works well for me, but I also have the back raised a bit.
As far as torque:
Desmotimes manual has nothing about this torque value
900SS service manual is cryptic, but does have "Base steering screw (8x1.25) =22.6-24.5 NM." This sounds right to me.
The information may in Haynes, but mine is missing right now.
BTW, that top picture is really scary. I hope you weren't riding with the forks only half-way into the top triple!

I used the measurement to the axle C/L because I have SBK forks on Joyce's bike. The factory measurement is only good for stock length forks. For the stock forks, that is the correct way to measure. For my method, the forks must be extended and there is still an error introduced but the top out spring.

Well I went out for a little spin with the front forks set at 10mm, and the bike is a lot more stable mid corner. I did not really notice the ability of turning in better, but maybe it is more important that the front end feels steady. It was great laying this bike over in some of the turns. I really wonder how it would do on the track though.

I can't even imagine how it felt before. I think 10 is a good start but may want to try 15 or so. I'm liking 20 more all the time.
