How do they know it was from an '02, and a 750 motor? Did whoever sold it to you have the bike whole, then part it out?
Hmm, there should be some stampings on the left side o the cases, at the bottom. If not, It MAY be due to a theft, ground down the stamping(painfully obvious though). I don't believe there was any race prepped cases from the factory.
Sounds fishy to me unless it was a theft recover, then they should have documents from PD.
The 750SS always had a five speed, when the 800SS came out with the 6 speed in '03.
You may have an 800 motor. Easy way to find out. Pull one of the heads, if it has 43mm INT/38mm EXH valves, you're in luck. You are the proud papa of an 800SS motor.
