It should be fine to run on the streets. I hear it's a pretty sticky tire. It's not going to be as good as a touring tire in the wet, but it should get on just fine in the dry. I would be sure to have a matched set on the front, however. It's best to have the front and rear tires working together.

180 rears fit on our bikes. I am currently running Metzeler M5 Interact and very pleased.
I have also used Michelins of various types, like Pilot Power.
With these I found the front developed scalloping and other unusual wear that put me off going to another set.
I also tried the Pirelli Diablo Corsa III and was not happy with rear wear at all.
In my case they looked like I only ever rode on freeways and never went around a corner, which is the opposite of what I do.
I have also found between the various brands that some 180 rears rub on the chain and others do not.
I am no expert, but I am going to go back to the stock 170 size next time to see how they tip in to corners etc.

Hey Man, glad the belts worked for You. Was that You I heard ripping around our area Yesterday afternoon?
Now, about tires:
If You're getting good tires for free or cheap then by all means do it. A 180 will work fine.
IF...You're wanting to put a 180 on it because it looks cool and mean on it, then don't do it. Punch hit it on the head with respect to tipping the bike into the curves. The bigger tire takes away some of the lean angle. I put a 180 on My 800 and took it to the track. It messed up everything. I gnurled up the front tire to death, but still had 3/8ths unused tire on the rear. With the stock 170 I could lean it further over. It just felt better.
