Fork compatibility (specifically with '94 900SS CR)

Howdy--I'm looking to upgrade to adjustable forks, and am searching on ebay and elsewhere.

I heard that Monster 900s came with the same forks as the SS/SP for much of the 90's. My question is which forks will fit my bike (from either a monster or an SP), and what do I need to look for.

40mm brake mounts, XXmm diameter, etc.

Let me know what to look for so I can get my suspension ducks in a row!

Thanks--

oh boy... this one has been covered a lot lately. Try searching again, the info is out there.

Just look for the same gen forks that are adjustable. Monster forks will be a straight swap, but an SBK for requires some adapting.

adjustable forks

i feel I got lucky finding a set from a used parts guy on Ebay. My 98CR with 3700 miles was bone stock and I thought replacing the suspension with the SP adjustable stuff from the period was the easiest way to go. I think I paid $220 for the forks and $50 for the rear shock. Both were in better condition than I expected when they arrived. My mechanic replaced seals before installing and found that a suspension guy had been thru them in the past. Bonus.
After spending a day at the track with Randy at Inhouse Suspension we got alot closer to optimal. I think it is a cheap way to go. that being said , I was very close to sending Rick at Cogent Engineering $ for Ohlins cartridges and read shock. if money doesn't matter, Ohlins is nice.

If this has been covered a lot lately, has anyone got suggestions for a search term? "fork compatibility"? or something else...?
