Oil Leak from Pulley Shaft Seal?

I've got a slow oil leak on the right side of my '93 900SS. The image below highlights the misted-over area. There are small pools indicated by the smaller circles. It sure seems like the culprit is the pulley shaft seal. Is this a known trouble spot or should I be looking elsewhere?

Not sure about the 900SS motor, but this sounds/looks like a layshaft seal leak I had with my 07 GT1000's dual spark engine.
Seemed to be a common thing with that motor. Try a search using the words "layshaft leak." Was an easy fix,
something like a 7$ part and an hour in the shop.
Unfortunately for me, said leak happened 2 weeks after the warranty expired...

All the best,
Ride safe!

Usually it is the jackshaft seal but if the engine has had a hard life or been crashed with the frame twisted the cases have been known to crack in the area of the jackshaft bearing. Close inspection with the pulleys off are in order. A word of caution, When reassembling the pulleys on the shaft, make absoultely sure the key doesn't get pushed out of its groove and behind the pulley when it is pushed on the shaft.[It makes a mess of things when it does]

I replaced the seal. Based on the oil behind the pulley I think this is the source of the leak. One 10 mile ride should verify that I have it fixed. Thanks for the advice on the woodruff key - I double checked it!
