12,500 miles in 1 month on a 2000 900ss
Hello, I've been lurking around these forums for a bit and I thought that I'd contribute a ride I'd completed a couple months ago on my bike (I call her Duke).
From Southern Indiana, I decided to go to the "tail of the dragon" area near tennessee/north carolina, then to a crawfish festival in breaux bridge louisianna, from there i met a fellow motorcyclist on a goldwing whom i visited in florida...I ended up here in southern AZ where I am still at to this day. Let me know if anyobdy wants to see pics because I took tons of them throughout my trip.
Some background: This 900ss was my "learning" motorcycle. The 900ss was a natural choice due to the dry clutch (musica de italia), cheap price, and the abundant inventory and excellent service in the midwest at the time. Every day after work I had to ride it in my general area, I was addicted. Once I got one, I never wanted to get off; therefore, I quit my dead end job and decided to get some luggage and go to some places that I always wanted to.
With a learners permit in hand, I decided to quit my job and travel the country while i'm young. I'm a foodie as well; bbq in the southern states, fresh oysters in the florida panhandle, gumbo in louisianna, to mexican in chihuaha and sonora mexico, i love it all. This is my latest adeventure. I have nothing to compare it to, but my 900ss treated me well, and I am very impressed with Ducati's reliability, even though she is a bit fussy sometimes, but I still love her and I have the feeling that my unique experience has turned me into a rider for life.

Livin the dream.. Nice one brother! I think most would envy you. If you think riding feels good now, go do some training at California Superbike School or other good track based training whilst you have the time off work. It will make your experience all the more enjoyable.
I wish I had of done it when I started riding over twenty years ago, would of had more fun and probably avoided the BIG accident I had years ago.
Keep on keepin on and stay sunny side up mate!

I wish I had the guts to quit my job and go traveling with the Lady in Red
Still young, but to many obligations already
If you have some time to pass, make a blog about your trip and add some pics!
Must be a one-in-a-lifetime-experience!

I agree with DME3. If time (and interest) allows, please figure-out how to blog it (current locations & photos) to keep us updated. It's a great & interesting road-trip, and helps to tolerate winter here in the Midwest...

Don't know how old you are, but you've sure done a lot more riding than I have in my 32 years on this planet! Well done. Would love to see more pics too.

How did you find the time to enjoy your visits? Seems you would have to do over 400 miles per day to add up to that amount in a month. Enjoy the ride while you can and be safe.
