Clutch slave cylinder leaking
I was just thinking the other day how great it was that there were no oil leaks at all round by bike when....
I went to hop on this am to go to work and found a small pool (11/2 inch across) of brake fluid under the bike.
I took off the clutch slave cylinder tonight and found that the piston seal was at an angle. e.g. it was popping out on one side and leaking from around the piston.
Its an aftermarket alloy job with an M on the side. Motoworks?
I pushed it back in, although its not 100% seated or flush and it seems to have stopped leaking- I pumped the clutch lever for a while and checked again.
Question is- has this happened to anyone before? Did it fix the issue or is it likely to let go in a big way when I'm next miles from home?
Can anyone tell me what the make of the cylinder is so I can source a new seal if necessary?
Cheers

i don't suppose you could post up some picks of the cylinder and piston?
the only aftermarket piston i've seen for the standard slave had 2 orings. sounds to me like your problem could happen again, and will be a problem if you're too far from home. when the seal on my brand new 2000 monster blew after 3500miles the mechanic told me they all blow around that mileage and i just need to keep bringing it back for new seals every 3500miles he was serious. i took the slave to a brake machine shop and had a stainless steal sleave fitted and a bigger seal fitted to the piston, problem solved, i've since done the same with my 916. hopefully motowheels will chime in about now but i can't recall them selling pistons alone.
most people go for aftermarket slaves, but be aware changing to a different piston diameter has implications all explained in the hall of fame.

Some pics
The seal had come out so it was about twice the height of the raised but round the top half of the seal- if that make sense

my mistake i thought you meant the piston had an M on it, not sure where that slave is from, the CM looks very familiar though, no doubt someone will be able to identify it, but i'd be looking around for a new one personally, that thing looks like it's seen better days.

Ducati Stock Clutch Slave Piston Upgrade | eBay
I just got one and will try it in the stock slave this spring. They also have the whole Evoluzione slave for $125, about $50 off. They are out of business though .

I would avoid the Stock Slave Cylinder, IIRC it's molded? which leaves little pit marks in the walls which chews up any O-rings you put in there. I'll be changing my stock upgraded with the Evoluzione piston, shortly here, for the fact that it will leak again.
As for the CM branded clutch slave, I'm still new to the ball game here, but if it's a little known manufacturer I'd replace it, there's got to be a reason why the manufacturer isn't well known.

MotoCorse
From a bit of raking last night I found the manufacturer is MotoCorse, who appear to do billet parts for Ducs, can't seem to find a site for them that shows the slaves though.
There was talk on one thread of a repair kit back in 2006-9.....
Anybody got a lead on where to source these?
