White Early SS?
I know it wasn't a factory color, but does anyone have pictures of the early 91-98 SS's in white? I'm gonna have to repaint my damaged Yellow fairings and thought I might toy around with the idea of white or pearl white, but I'm at work where all the computers have filters so we can't do a google image search. Has anyone seen one? I'm curious and think it might look good with a black frame and wheels, having a hard time picturing it. If it looks awful, then I'll probably go factory red.

I have yet to really see one. I think it's a great idea. Paint it!!! I would make the wheels and frame matched to a color that will compliment it, though... like a deep red, gold or black.

Yeah, I was thinking black for the frame and wheels would look pretty nice, maybe with black decals and some red accents. It looks great on the modern Duc superbikes, just having a hard time picturing it on mine ;-)

Great minds think alike. I am thinking of doing the same, with red frame and wheels and white tank and body panels. I think it would look pretty good. Take a look at M5Zealot's black 900SS, there's pictures of it on the forum. Gloss black with red seat, frame and wheels, it looks awesome!

Thats funny you would mention M5Zealot's bike, that's what made me want to pull the trigger. His bike is gorgeous. The other inspiration was the 848 at the top right corner of any page on this site. The modern bikes look great in white, why not try a (nearly)vintage ducati in white too? I'm thinking of pearl white with the dark frame and wheels, either black or titanium or something similar with some small red accents, pinstripe on the wheels etc. I'd love to see yours done up if you get it done first, since I'm a ways off from this part of the project. I think the red fram would be killer with white too.

I'm waiting to pay off my "commuter" bike (VFR800) and then I may look into a '97/'98 to play with. Keep the '95 in red and maybe upgrade it to a 944. I had my eye on an 851, but not quite sure yet. The harder part will be convincing the wife that I need a "track" bike. At least that's what I would call it.
Cheers!

That's exactly what I was hoping to see. I figured somebody, somewhere had done it before. That looks so good. I really like the way you did it up. Thanks for sharing a pic. May I ask what kind of white that is specifically? I can't tell on my phone if it is straight up white, or if it has any pearl or metallic in it. In any case it turned out great and I think that pic just sold me - white it is (of some variety). Thanks!

No problem at all.....I wish I had a few more pics of it to share with you. It is just a Chrysler white--no metallic or pearl. I was considering going that route(pearl), but I thought it would be too overdone. I matched the frame as close as I could. The thing I like about the white is that it looks really clean and subdued. All of the golds, silvers and metallics in the mechanicals(forks/exhaust/brakes/swingarm) seriously "pop" much more than they had when the bike was red. I personally think that the black frame/black wheels/white bodywork would look incredible.......

That looks really nice. I wonder how many other colours are out there?
