Need help with Clutch Master Cylinder
Long story short I was working on the clutch line on my '95 900SS/SP, it looked like there was sediment in the master cylinder reservoir, at least it looked very dark and cloudy, so I completely drained the line and cleaned out the reservoir.
However, when trying to refill the reservoir and line, no fluid will pass through the master cylinder now. I can pump the lever but the reservoir fluid level never gets any lower. I tried using a mighty-vac to draw fluid through the line at the clutch slave but to no avail. It's been a long time since I've wrenched on my own machines but I am mechanically inclined and no stranger to the inner workings of bike engines and transmissions. I will say that brake/clutch master cylinders was not something I ever got too familiar with though.
I have read that sometimes you have to bleed the master cylinder but as mentioned above I am not familier with how this is done. Any advice/pointers would be great.
NOTE: The unit is the stock Brembo with the remote reservoir.
Cheers!

Issue Resolved
Funny, there were a lot of views of this but no one chimed in...
That being said, not sure what the exact issue was but with a little tinkering this evening I was able to get this resolved!
BTW, getting the clutch lever assembly off the handle bar is a bit of a chore due to the choke mechanism that's attached to it.

The unit I have does not have a bleeder at the master cylinder so I ended up taking the clutch lever assembly off the bike and did an inspection of the entire unit checking for any leaks in the reservoir feed tube and of the piston mechanism making sure everything was good. I then took the bleeder kit and attached it to the output side of the master cylinder, filled the reservoir with fluid and started pumping the lever. Low and behold the fluid started flowing though the reservoir out into the bleeder. I ran a couple of resvoirs fills though it and then proceeded to put everything back together. I was able to successfully bleed the line and everything is now working fine.
Whether it was a stuck piston or something clogging the resevoir fill line, I'm not sure but it's all resolved now.
Cheers!

Ha! I once saw a bloke with the same problem, fill up the reservoir and try blow it through. Yes, mouth over the reservoir, cheeks bulging like a bullfrog, all the time pumping the clutch.
How I wish I'd had my camera that day.

That was plan Z! Thankfully, I only had to use plan A. I never did find what the issue was, but as long as everything is working now I'm not too worried about it. It's better than when I started, the fluid in the reservoir before I drained it looked pretty dark. I don't neglect the bike, but I don't ride it daily either. Came out one Saturday and noticed the reservoir didn't look right. Onward and upward.
Cheers!
