Whats inside the petrol tank?

After having the tank powdercoated, inside the tank I noticed some sort of material along the sides at the rear of the tank

With the heat they have cracked and some bits have broken away

Anyone know what these are?

Regards

Have you got a picture of the inside of your tank? Not sure what it could be, my best guess is if somebody had sealed the tank prior to your ownership. I'm not sure how any tank sealer holds up to heat.

Is it a silver-grey matierial? May be some sort of botched POR-15 sealant job?

I agree, mine looked like cracked/pealing material and it was POR-15 job gone bad.
