Quick spark plug question

According to the manual my 1992 Superlight needs Champion RA6HC spark plugs.

However, NGK plug are easier to get by.

Most online shops offer NGK DPR8EA-9 or NGK DCPR8E plugs for the SL.

Are these any good as a stock replacement?
What's the difference between the two?

For my monster I interchange DCPR8E and DCPR8EIX with the Champion RA6HC. They are essentially the same except the EIX didn't come with the little screw on caps and I had to dig some up.

The shop I work out sells NGK exclusively. It seems like Champions foul out pretty quick comparatively. Plus Harley's and lawn mowers use Champion so we just lump them in the crap catagory.

DPR8EA-9 12mm thread, Protruded electrode, Resistor type, 19mm length thread, special firing construction, and wide gap to .9mm
DCPR8E 12mm thread, protruded electrode, resistor type, 5/8 hex drive, 19mm length thread

So basically the difference is the electrode design, gap, and drive style.
NGK references the DCPR8E for your app

in your case the IX just denotes the plug as Iridium instead of standard. And yeah, good thing to save your screw on terminals. Most NGKs don't come with them.

NGK plugs have served me well, but for some reason (probably to be different and/or snobby) I'm running Denso plugs. They look sharp!

Here is all the info you'll need to know to choose a plug, NGK, Denso or Champion:

Ngk d8ea

You don't need resistor plugs in that bike. You will need a new socket though. I forget what size; 18 mm?

I think I have 3 different spark plug sockets in the toolbox, must be one that fits

The Ngk d8ea would shave off some euro's
Strange that everywhere resistor plugs are offered. Even the stock ones are resistor plugs.

Here is a good plug cross reference: Spark plug cross reference

The Denso X24EPR-ZU9 platinum electrode plugs looks good.

That 18mm socket caught me out. I had to go out and buy one. Very annoying when you're almost finishing a job.

With non resistor plugs everyone you go near with an electronic item attached to their vehicle will know you're there. The range is limited and effects vary but the old style plugs can interfere with electronics of many kinds. Radio is the most obvious but maybe GPS or other onboard electrickery?
