Take that bike to the Blue Ridge Parkway as another "must do".

You are right, the Superduke is a different animal. That is the reason for a lower HP bike. I found myself with the Superduke just riding nutty.... And, not working on my riding skills. So the Supersport will fit that tea perfectly.... I would love to take it to a track, I think the closest is VIR, it is about 3 hours away... Not sure if there are any members here that go to that track, but it would be nice if they had a Ducati track day I would love to learn about the bike and its handling characteristics from other owners

Tracks
Summit Point might be closer to you than VIR. Both are fun tracks but very different. VIR has the huge long back straight, Summit is more technical. The uphill Esses at VIR are great fun, though.

You might want to check out US DESMO, a Ducati club based in the Charlotte area. They have a number of annual rides and several track days each year; US DESMO - A Ducati Desmo Motorcycle Owner's Club for the United States.
As far as track days and your 900SS, you will find the bike excels in cornering/braking, but is found wanting on long straights versus other machinery. Having a broad torque curve, however, makes learning to ride in the track environment much easier.
The SS makes a lot more sense than the Ducati superbikes on the street, as the power level relates better to the speeds you can actually ride without being carted off to jail. That's why I had mentioned the Parkway as one of the "must-do" rides on your new toy.

Bike looks gorgeous! What camera are you using for your videos? I'm very close to getting a Gopro Hero 2.
