Dang, Pit Bull stands are sweet

I sent my front wheel off to Noah at MCWheel for straightening, and hung the 900 on a Pit Bull while the wheel is out being straightened. I haven't had a wheel straightened before and I do hope it works out.

The stand was awesome--I hadn't used a front stand before and I was blown away by the way it lifted the bike--I hadn't seen that before.

I write a blog for Metzeler and so I popped some pictures up there... I don't have them on my work computer.

Curious: why didn't you remove the tire and rotors and just send the rim ?

Admittedly, that would have been optimal, but I don't have a good way to remove the tire (esp with the rotor on it. I don't have rim savers, and only a few tire levers, and have only ever swapped two tires like this myself) and the rotor bolts were stuck on there really good. I felt like I might damage them if I tried too hard to remove them, and Noah said that it was find to leave everything on.

While I had the frame off my '95 900SS to bead blast it and have frame gussets welded on at the steering head I took the opportunity to bead blast my rims as well.

I had my front rim in the bead blast cabinet at work and someone (of course noone knows who) took it out of the cabinet one night and dropped it. Bent the lip of the rim up pretty good on one side. I sent it off to MCWheel to be straightened. I sprung for the extra $20.00 bucks for the race spec.

They did a good job on it. Before we shot any Red paint we went over that rim with a fine toothed comb and mic'd it up at least eight ways from Sunday and couldn't find any fault with it. MCWheel is okay in my book Nick.
