Replacement frames 93-98- Titling

From what i can read/searched/heard the replacement frames for the crack welds on the Supersport frames came two ways. If you went thru a dealer, they cut your steering head off, sent it to Italy and the new frame came back with the original VIN number on the nbew frame. But i also have heard that there are replacement frames with no VIN's on them. How did one then get title/VIN/registration for these? I am still hoping to build a custom bike from parts/spares but if i use one of these leftover frames, how will i be able to title it?

I would assume the same way all those custom "Harley" bike builders get their bikes registered: Custom Built.

not that simple

The rules (at least in PA) depend upon what type of vehicle the title is being requested for. Is it a custom built bike from scratch with no VIN/bike built from other vehicle/salvage title parts - other salvage/R VINs/kit of parts or catalog parts bike.....etc. Ergo if i have a "ducati" frame with no VIN and no real certificate of origin or bill of sale (not including a bill of sale from some random guy who has no more claim of ownership) that is the issue. Sure i could weld up a similar to ducati frame, but if i could do that, i'd probably have a business doing that sort of work. Any thoughts/help would be appreciated. I plan to call a local "PA enhanced inspection station" locally which actually includes a few local Harley shops and perhaps they may have more info.

The DMV dosen't know you don't have mad skills - maybe you made it yourself to hang a bunch of Ducati parts on. Tell them anything!
"Custom Built Bike From Scratch" sounds like a winner to me.
