Speedo dead!

It died as I was doing some naughty overtaking. Is it likely the cable?

Unscrew it from the back of the speedo, push the bike forward (or back) and see if it turns. Or try and pull it out (can't remember which way it will).

Just replaced mine. Previous poster's advice is right--check if inner cable is turning while rolling bike with cable disconnected from speedo. Replacement is easy and less than $20.

If you need a new cable call DucPond they are one of the few dealers that normally keep them in stock.

And if it is the speedometer I have one showing about 20,000 miles you may have. PM your address and I will send you the speedo from my 95 900 ss/sp. I converted my bike to km for the complete euro look and function. I do not have a cable which is the more likely culprit though.

It's all good gentlemen. It was the speedo cable, snapped at the bottom. There's a Ducati specialist around the corner from me who sold me a new one for £12.
