SS1000DS intake mods?
Just wondering what intake mods have been done. I tried finding stock air filters from K&N and BMC and haven't come up with anything.

Might read this forum prior to trying to mod your airbox. Airbox Resonance

K&N makes a filter for the stock air box.

Theory is all well and good, but there are *plenty* of data showing that the DS1000 engine responds very positively to intake mods, as all 2V air cooled ducs seem to do.
Simplest approach on the SS is to just open the entire top of the airbox, exposing the entire filter area to open air, as with the DP air filter kit. Loss of resonance? Who cares? there is more torque everywhere, and no one who does this ever complains about "loss of throttle response". The SS won't even need remapping if you do this.
BikeBoy.org - 1000DS SS ie: Base runs, Mufflers, etc
That's a pretty good gain for basically just cutting a big whole in the airbox!
What is less clear is how much additional benefit you can get from going to a velocity stack / pod filter setup like this one:
Waspworks Power Up Kits
It comes with a pre-mapped PCIII. A lot of us Sport Classic guys have these and like them, but I don't think Greg ever put a kit together specifically for the SS.
There are also the TPO Beast and Beast-R intack stack / pod filter kits for the DS1000, but again, I am not sure if they offer it for the SS or not.

Agreed - and it should be pointed out that the article quoted by Ritlee earlier refers to Superbike intake systems which are quite different to the Supersport.
The dyno print out for my 1000SS (with DP slip on's and DP air filter kit) was almost identical to the one shown above, the bike feels stronger everywhere in the rev range and pulls cleaner off idle than when it was stock.

Has anyone tried a Power Commander with the DS motor?

That was in my plan, or use the DP ECU I have, but the bike ran perfectly on the stock ECU - mind you, that is in the Southern Hemisphere so different elevation/humidity etc and also I think our gas is a bit more potent...

Lots of Sport Classic guys use them. The trick is that they don't work with the stock ECU, since it runs in closed loop (lambda sensor) and the ECU will just override whatever the PCIII does. However, with the DP ECU the lambda sensor signal is not used, and the PCIII works in the normal way.

Any idea what kind of results are obtained and if it's cost effective?
