Never. A new Supersport is irrelevant / unneeded.

If Ducati built a new Supersport would you buy one? POLL
I always seem to find myself in the middle of New Supersport threads. Some of you argue there's no market for a new Supersport, but I dont know about that.
New sportsbikes are becoming increasingly hardcore, and while I usually own a Supersport (or two) and a Superbike, the new Superbikes are, I believe, becoming increasingly irrelevant for the road. (Ride a 1199 Panigale hard on the road and you'll end up losing your licence... or your life) When you look at it we're an aging population but we still want to have fun and ride fast from time to time and the humble SS fits the bill.
I dont know if anyone at Ducati reads our Forum but I do know they develop one bike at a time so, in theory, it should be our turn. So, I thought I'd do a poll (call it market research) to see:
1) If there is a market for a new Supersport or not.
2) If they did build one what would be on your wishlist.

Yes, I'd be interested if it were as light and simple as possible. Must be air cooled, must be desmo (obviously), and at least part (preferably all) of the frame should be trellis design. Should make 100 hp at the wheel out of the box.
Don't really care if the clutch is wet or dry. Don't care if the rear suspension is direct link or has a linkage. Don't want ABS, ETC or any of that stuff. Needs close to top shelf brakes, and fully adjustable suspension front and rear.
Mine would be a track bike immediately, so a deal like they had in the past where you could order one in track trim directly from the factory would be sweet.
Price should be competitive with Japanese 600s. Maybe $10% more, but not much more than that.

Oh and here's my wish list!
- Sportbike but not hard-core
- 1100-1200cc Aircooled V-Twin
- Sporty but comfortable riding position (Hell, if KTM can do it on their RC8-R!)
- 'Traditional' Trellis Frame
- Full fairing and half fairing options
- Electronics Package incl ABS
- "S" upgrade option
- LIGHT!
And if Ducati doesnt build this, I'm going to drop a 1000DS motor into a XX9 frame and fit RAD tank and tail and my own fairing

Not too picky...only have two requirements:
--Dual headlights
--High-mount exhaust a 'la late model SS. No undertail.

Okay, I'll add my 2 cents.
If I had the money (unlikely right now) I'd only be interested in a new Super Sport if it kept the trellis frame, a simple engine that can be worked on without having to buy expensive tools etc. Must have an Ohlins suspension or a similarly adjustable suspension, as putting an Ohlins on my Super Sport transformed it... a good suspension is a must, none of this unadjustable Showa crap that came on bottom end models! Really though, I'm quite happy with my 1999 model Super Sport....
...The next bike on my wish list is a road going 500 cc two stroke (TSS500) or Norton Rotary (if they ever bought one out) so it will have to be something special. Though I'm very happy with the way my 900SS sets of car alarms in car parks Thank Staintune for that!

If Ducati had built this ( Ducati Sport 1000S) with real suspension, tubeless wheels and without a plastic tank I would have bought one. Almost did anyway until the dealership's service mgr/friend told me what it would cost to make it right.

A new Supersport?
- Air cooled engine, chain and gear cam driven.
- Frame "ala" Panigale (for weight saving)
- A whole range: 699, 799, 1099
- NO electronic invasion: there's no need of this kind of stuff and a maximum 120 bhp bike. Only Fuel injection and optional ABS.
- Desmosedici-like fairing, perhaps half fairing.
We need this kind of bikes. There is too much electronic stuff in the new hypersports (not only Ducati).
