advice needed

Due to a monstrous insurance bill and too many bikes I find myself looking to sell my beloved 95 SS/SP # 006.

Lots of extras... suspension, 944 hi comp, etc but is also approaching 26k even though the 944 kit was installed at 15k. Ill never get what I think its worth (at least to me).

My question is... Should I part it out? I hate to do it, its such a nice clean, never been dropped bike. But with what they are getting for original plastics alone It starts to seem to be worth more in pieces.

Just looking to get some educated feed back

Thanks

If you sell it in parts, you will get more money probably.
But will you be able to sell all parts in time? Do you want the hassle and end up with a load of parts you can't sell?

Good, running bikes should never be parted out! Put a non-op on it if you must, but hold onto it as it's only a matter of time before the value of these bikes in complete condition begins to climb. And I bet one these will be worth much more than you'd ever guess, especially as Ducati is transforming itself so much these past few years. One day the SS models will be viewed as fine classics...

I think the motorcycle gods kill a puppy every time you part out a Ducati. I'm sure I read that somewhere...

I'm with Tempest, if the bike is running try and sell it whole. Your more likely going to find someone willing to pay for a running bike they can ride home with. Selling parts has a whole other side to it, having to deal with packing and shipping.

I had my 95 900SSSP in moth balls for a few years, when I took it to the shop to have it "resurrected", most of the guys in the shop kept asking if I would rather sell it, mostly the head mechanic! While it was sitting in my garage non op, I did keep up the registration and insurance, but I think you can register it as non op to save on yearly registration and/or insurance. Good luck with whatever you do.

Cheers.
