Solo Seat Mystery Bracket Search
I was able to source a Solo Seat but all brackets were missing. I was able to order all parts from my dealer and received 90% of them already. We can't seem to figure out what/where the "glassed in" bracket is. I have both front and rear seat brackets w/ appropriate rubber bumpers. The parts catalog does not seem to list or show the part the rear brackets bolt onto. (looking at 900SS FE solo seat diagram)
I'm pretty good w/ fiberglass but have zero talent in fabricating metal brackets. Can anyone shed some light on what this mystery part is? I'm assuming the FE seat already had them glassed in at the factory. BTW my seat seems to have had the rear bracketing because it's obvious they were pulled off or broke off leaving an imprint of where they were glassed to the seat. I at least have some reference exactly where to re- glass them if I can find them. Thanks

I have a Sharkskinz and an FE solo seat and I'd like to help, but your question isn't clear. Your new seat seems to have all the parts as the stock seat, except for the front mounting brackets, which use the same bolt holes as the seat pad.

The older SL solo seats don't have the mounts that bolt on the rear brackets

Sorry for not being clear. I think I confused you by posting two different seats that are not mine. (too lazy to take pics today) I need the "bracket" the rear supporting brackets bolt onto. This part is glassed/fuse to the seat itself. So if you look at the top pic w/ four brackets....if you unbolt the rear supporting brackets you will see a part fused/glassed to the seat. That is the part we are trying to identify/order. Hope that is clear

I know. I wanted to go the FE route since it has 4 supporting brackets instead of just two.
My seat had all four brackets at one time. I didn't complain to the seller because he threw in mint condition cushions!

I don't think you'll find that part individually since it came with the seat unit attached to it...
If it's not in the part manual as a single part, I think you'll need to DIY.
But do you need the rear support? I'm running my Superlight without them
I have an extra seat which does has them, but I don't see how those have a purpose.
edit: be sure to post some pic's of your bike with the solo seat!

I'm pretty sure the fused-in bracket came with the cowl and wasn't available separately.
Not that it would be a big deal to omit them. The front seat brackets are more than enough support for the pad which is where all the weight sits. The cracked cowls that get mentioned often are the ones that likely don't have any support brackets at all. It you need the rear brackets for alignment, I did see where one chap had used a pair of thick rubber tubes, cut and placed around the frame near the tail light. Worked well too.

Thanks guys! Appreciate your input. I weight about 160 lbs so I think the front brackets should be ok. I only wanted the rear ones because I developed a reliance on my "basket handle!" It's very handy to grab onto it when putting my bike on a rear stand. I figured with it gone in the conversion, if I grab on to the solo tail w/ no rear brackets I could cause undo stress and eventually crack it. I'll post pics when the project is done. I'm doing all the prepping and painting.

You won't crack it putting it on a paddock stand
It needs a bit of practice though. I lean my bike a bit on the hip and hang on to the upper upholstery (the back support leather thingy) when I put it on the stand.
If you want, I can take a picture of how my solo seat looks with the rear brackets. That way you'll have an idea how to make your own if you'd ever want to.

Randy, I'll check when I can get to removing my FE seat. I sure love the 4 Dzus fasteners on my SP track bike solo seat, that I bought from Motowheels .
