US 748R different engine spec than Euro? HELP!
Hello all,
Just as I decided to buy a 748R as a winter project to build a great track bike for next year I'm hearing that the engines fitted to the 2000 2001 US Spec bikes was different than the Euro bikes of the same years. Different heads completely?
There's a great article on punching out a 748R to an 853 by Sigma performance in England to get RS performance but that assumes the same motor to start with!? http://www.sigmaperformance.com/748r-853r.html
Additionally, in the US did the 2002 model have no lights and track bodywork?
Confused.
Thanks in advance,
Pushka [foggy #102]

There was no US model 748R (sort of). They were all ROW models which is why they are hard to register. In '02 the head lights were removed for shipping and a filler blank was installed. This was done only to make Customs happy since these bikes were imported as competition vehicles.

There's a guy on fleabay selling a European 748R "B package" bike right now. It looks to me like a 748S, but he swears is a real R. Anyone know anything about that?

748r
There is one guy on e-bay with a fake....he says it is an 01 748R but take a look at the forks, top clamp...no Ohlins, no badge....scammer fishing for the uniformed about 748R.
I have had three 748R bikes, 2 01s and an 02..Euro and US and they all have a badge, Ohlins ect...also no difference in motors....all FAST

Yep, looks like it might be an '00 model. Not worth nearly as much as an '01 or '02.
