to chip or not to chip...

Hi All...

I'vfe just upgraded my 2k1 996 from a 45mm Leo Vinci to a 52mm SIL MOTO half system... now here's the tricky part... what should I do next... the bike runs relatively rich to why should I bother with chipping ? Even if I have a stock air filter ?
Also, there are other options...

Power Commander ?
DP Chip ?
FIM CHIP ?
Techflusion module ?
And a local dealer say he can reprogram the stock cpu... now what are the suggestions...

Thx!

Pdittay..

If you are going to track it and want every pony you can get out of the new system, chip it. If you just ride street and you don't care about 1-3hp, don't worry about it

There are 3 options as i see it..

*Get the dealer to adjust your CO-levels and leave it..
Downside: Why did you get the exhaust? no more power from this mod.
Upside: Inexpensive

*Get a Customized chip from FIM or Factory Pro
Downside: Some cost. Not adjustable
Upside: Matched to suite both in ignition and fuel. Easy install. A good solution if your not planning further engine upgrades.

*Get A PC3
Downside: Expensive and must be custom-mapped
Upside: Easy to install, fully customizable and IF you decide to do camtiming and other tuning, Itīs already in there for more tuning.

My money.. Iīd keep the chip you have and get a PC3 and find a good dyno-center to build you a good map if your thinking about doing more tuning later, like camtiming and maybe some other stuff.

But if your not planning anything more, the chip is probably a better choice, since itīs "plug-and-play". I hear good things about Factory Pro.

Thanks for the comments gents... I might be tempted by a PCIII... Then all I need is a dyno centre....
