Cycle Cat DBR1 riser install on 998

I am considering adding Cycle Cat risers to my 998 but there is a warning on the website about possible interference with the cold throttle adjustment cable if full height of the kit is used. Cycle Cat just says only use about 1/2 an inch of the riser and I should be ok? Will 1/2 inch make any significant difference to riding comfort? Has anybody installed the kit and is it really an issue? Was there a possibility to re-position or re-route the cable as per some of the posts dealing with risers on other Ducs? Advice and guidance much appreciated. Thanks.

It all depends on how high you set your bars. It was a non issue for me. I did have to flip the one cable upside down to give it more slack. It was covered in the instructions.

In addition to the 1/2 inch you have the capability to rotate the bar within it's sleeve giving you more adjustability. While it did eliminate some of the pressure, after 3 hours ride, my wrists have had enough.

But, it is a racing bike so if you want ultimate comfort get a Multi or Monster.

I fitted these bars on my 916 and have set them about 1/2 inch above stock, which due to the thickness of the fork tubes (where they narrow) is about as low as possible, it is also about as high as possible or the bars hit the fairing, as it is my knuckles will touch the mirrors on full lock (on the stock bars my thumbs trapped on the intakes on full lock), I had to fit the throttle twistgrip upside down as the cable is too short otherwise.

So although I've only set the bars slightly higher and with a different angle, there really is no way you can use use all of the adjustment - unless you take your front fairing & mirrors off. However the small rise I have makes all the difference to riding comfort and I can even (sort of) look over my shoulder now, the bars are also around 3/4" longer (each) which also helps comfort-wise. The 916 has no cable for cold start but instead has a 'cruise control' switch on the twistgrip for cold starts which is now in the ideal position for the thumb to set it (it will hold around 40 mph and can be useful on occasions).

I have them on my 998, and have them about 1/2 inch below the triple clamp. I had to re route the cable to give it enough slack. Fairly easy to do.
I like them, because I can change the angle easily, down for local canyon rides, then less steep for longer rides, like last weeks SoCal to USGP and back trip.

At full lock, my knuckles just touch the mirrors, but much easier on my wrists.
