the bike is ALL SHOW AND NO GO
it's 4K CHEAPER than the "S" and you get NOTHING but ohlins
no 1/2 exhaust...... NOTHING

it's just a stock 999.....
with ohlins and a paint job

ALL SHOW AND NO GO
looks like a bad PR move to me
....... the kind of "special bike" that will appeal to RICKY RACER.....
only he can't afford a ducati in the first place

it's basically a 999S with graphics. It's 4K cheaper than the R, not 4K cheaper than the S. If it was 4K cheaper than the S that would be a steal. Basically you're paying 4K for the limited edition part. Kinda like how they did that for the ben bostrom 998

it is NOT a true "S" in that there is NO 1/2 exhaust included
so.... the "S" is the better bike

the point is, they wanted to tap the "repli-racer" desiring crowd who can't afford the XEROX/FILA-type bikes....

i saw the dealer-spec sheet today..... i was AT the dealer this morning
it is a DUMBED-DOWN "S"
really..... it's just a regular 999 with the ohlins.... and no 1/2 exhaust and some graphics

I've never been a big fan of all the graphics but; other than a Termi half system what else does the "S" have that this one doesn't?

LOL 4k cheaper than the "S" and I'm thinking might be a deal but 4k cheaper than the "R" and I'm thinking no way.

i think that might be it....
the "S" doesn't sell well.... because if folks are willing to pay more for the 1/2 exhaust.... then most will pony up 4K more to get the "R"..... even though you still have to pay for a full exhaust sytem there

so.....
they are going to call this PARTS UNLIMITED bike an "S" because of the Ohlins

i believe you'll still get the MONO-BLOCK-LIKE brembo brakes on the P.U. bike
and they are quite sweet

going is FUN....
but, STOPPING IS MORE IMPORTANT

Sounds to me like another case of Ducati forgetting its core market and pandering to the jap bike crowd (no offence to anyone). More show and less go just doesn't lend itself to Ducati core values; at least not the Ducati of old.
