Trackday gearing
Just curious as to how many have changed the sprocket(s) to lower the gearing on their bikes?
I just attended my first trackday this Saturday at Blackhawk Farms in No. Illinois.
In one particular section of the track called the Bus Stop, there are some tight corners and at my rate of speed, I seemed to be caught between gears there and a few other times during the day.
I realize riding style, the particular track ect. can make a huge difference here, but from what I've read it is fairly common for this change to be made. It would seem to make the bike more streetable also.
I have talked to my dealer about this and my sales rep there said that the bikes are geared high.
Any thoughts?
Steve

yep, the bikes are geared high. Gearing is a personal preference, tuned to your particular riding style. Stock your 999 is 15/36, I believe. You can go the cheap route by swapping the 15t front for a 14t, which is roughly equal to going +3 teeth in the rear. If you want, I have my original (about 500mi on them) 525 pitch 14/39 gears from my 749 I'll ship out to you dirt cheap (still cleaning the garage ). It'll give you a few options for gearing.

That was a fast and to the point response Migz123.
Many on this site seem to be men of few words.
Thanks,

Thanks for the option. I'll research what the changes would do for me with a local Duc racer I meet at the dealer and track on Saturday. He's given spot on advise with my new bike and I'll let you know.
Thanks,,
Steve
