Termi exhaust nearly blowing up...
Hi chaps & lasses,
I was rebuilding my bike and noticed my cans rattling. I decided to drill the rivets off and check inside. To my horror I noticed the inner metal wool had a hole in it and the outer fiber glass had actually melted and turned into lumps of glass looking similar to hard resin!!! I can only think this was done when at Snetterton I was forced to use baffles and noticed plasma flames coming out of my right exhaust when I stopped. I immediately took them out and thought nothing of it until now. Luckily the carbon sleaves are intact and I have rebuilt them.
Thought it worth mentioning as others (especially in the UK) may have to use restrictive baffles. This is on a 1098 engine using 996 carbon termis.
