998S FE more HP

Guys,
I recently purchased a Final Edition from the USA (I'm in Canada). So far i love the bike. However, i guess i'm still kind of holding out for a 998R in the back of my mind. I was a little disappointed to find the 998 base motor (no deep sump and not the hotter cams) in the bike ( frig...what's the point of the S label...suspension only...too bad). At least this is the research that i have found...base 998 model engine correct?

Anyway, it was low miles (400 miles) and it had everything i wanted on it. It has the race ecu and race exhaust. I'll admit it sounds raunchy awesome. I guess my question is how can i get more performance out of this bike? What are my options? Cams? High compression piston set? Big bore?

Help, please!

Thanks,
Don

Depends on what you want to do here..

BETTER performance
* 14T front sprocket = lower gearing = increased acceleration
* lightweight wheels = less unsprung/rotating mass = better acceleration, brakes and definatly faster cornering

More horsepower
Stage1
*larger airrunners
*Re-timed cams (advance inlet cams and set exhaust cams)
*Powercommander 3 USB/reflashed ECU and custommap by a good dyno tuner

Stage2
*"Euro" S or 996R cams
*Larger exhaust
*Remapped ECU or PC3

Stage3
*TIT rods
*Larger valves
*high compression pistons

I´d go with lighter wheels and a 14T front sprocket, since those give the best "bang for the buck" Then a PC3 or a re-flashed ECU.
