Trick to quite clutch chatter
Blah blah blah I know if you own a duc you're supposed to like the dry clutch sound... buuuut has anyone heard of doing this trick to quite your clutch?:
1) Source a couple used friction plates.
2) Remove all of the clutch plates.
3) Begin building the clutch plates back up by placing 1 or 2 of the used friction plates in first…before inserting the two steel plates (which usually go in first). Push the plates(s) in so the tabs seat in the bottom of the basket grooves. The goal is to prevent the “teeth” on the steel plates from touching the bottom of the grooves in the hub. It doesn’t take much to accomplish this.
4) Install the remaining plates as usual.
5) Install the pressure plate as usual. You don’t want the clutch pack to be too thick, which may happen depending on your clutch.
Anyone in this forum heard of any detrimental effects from performing this mod?
Again, no need to post any comments about ducati sacrilege or dry clutch hating. thanks, Shawn

It would be easier to go out and buy a gsxr...
To be serious, I've seen this suggested a couple weeks ago in a tread here. I'd look through the older treads.

found one thread listed with same idea tested. Did a search before I started my thread without any luck. looked again and came across what I was looking for. Guess no one has any knowledge of any perceived problems.
If anyone else has any input before ignoring this thread I would still appreciate it. If not, I shall proceed with the operation...
thanks,
Shawn

I've done it, it works very well. I'd even venture to say that besides the very quiet idling (comparatively) the trans. seemed to shift better, more solid. Only drawback is supposedly, there's a tendency for a stall situation at take off once in awhile. Also, you're putting a side load on a bearing that shouldn't have a side load. Also, depending on how thick those used steel plates (and they gotta be steel) are, the trans will sometimes make a farting noise at take off.
