Alright, I got it. A few of the plates had rough edges from the stamping process I guess. I filed them down slightly, and I got all the plates to fit.

I'm no clutch expert but, I've been having a lot of problems with mine lately and have heard a few things. I've heard that manufacturers match their clutch disc "ears" (the things you're having trouble with) to their proprietary baskets. Meaning they expect you to put brand X clutch plates into a brand X clutch basket.
I also see that you bought an anti-hopping basket. Are you going to do a full slipper clutch system? Might the basket be different for a slipper? I dunno.
I too bought a set of Ferrodo clutch plates off ebay. Mine are steel and I'm guessing yours are too. Putting steel plates into a alum. basket is gonna tear up the basket quick. You either need to have steel on steel or alum. on alum. (or don't let your bike idle ) Just my $.02

Im not going with a slipper clutch, can I not use an antihop basket with a non-slipper clutch?
Aluminum basket and Steel plates, or vice versa makes sense. I should probably look for a set of aluminum plates? I see Barnett makes a set for a little over $200, what are my other options?
The aluminum basket I have looks pretty close to the Motowheels aluminum basket. Only reason I am replacing both is because my stock plates, the ears are pretty tore up, along with the factory basket has impressions on it from the friction plate ears. Also engagement from a dead stop, the clutch sounded like it was slipping.

Like I said, I'm no expert and I've only been on this forum for a little while, I'm sure there's more guys on here that know waaay more than me but, I'll try to answer what I can.
As far as you using what was ebay listed as an anti-hopping basket and that being any different from a regular basket, I don't know. I'm kinda thinking that the basket may be the same and only the innards would be different.
I'm glad you agree with the alum. + alum. or steel + steel only. Obviously, Duc uses steel on steel. They last for a little while depending on riding style. What I can tell you is that not too long ago I bought a Barnett alum. clutch plate pack and their billet clutch basket. This basket has stainless steel inserts where the alum. ears of the clutch disc. hit the basket. After only 1500 miles I happen to take the clutch apart while installing a light fly wheel and the pics. show what I had.
The first and last pic. shows one rivet that holds the stainless inserts in the basket protruding out and starting to make a mark on the inside of that engine cover. The next 2 pics. show where the rivets had sheared off all by themselves. The last pic. shows how DESTROYED my (fairly new) clutch plates look after bashing against the steel inserts. Needless to say, I'm not happy with Barnett and am about to email them a long story that includes lots of pics.
So, bottom line, good luck with whatever you decide to do. Maybe someone else on here with more experience can chime in.

I'm getting ready to replace the clutch in my 748. Anyone want to recommend a quality replacement dry clutch basket and plates and where to get them?
I came across this company on the interweb: http://www.desmotimes.com/
Anyone heard of it? The clutch baskets look pretty impressive. I'm assuming 7075 aluminum would be pretty hard stuff.

What is an anti-hop basket?
Baskets are baskets.
Though they can be made from various material, any basket will work with any type of clutch hub, slipper or normal.
Desmotimes is a good supplier, Motowheels is another (all my slippers are from Motowheels).

I better check mine. I think have the same setup.
Does it matter for which bike model? and also riding style? Probably more on riding style.
Get back to us when you get a reply from Barnett

I don't think any model is gonna matter as long as it's a dry clutch superbike. I know some of the non-super bike models have a slightly different clutch set-up, namely the pasos. As far as riding style, don't let your bike idle for a long time or ride in a lot of stop and go traffic. This is what wears the ears quickest.
I've already been in contact with the guy who sold me the parts. He went as far as contacting Barnett and forwarding me their response which was..."We've never seen any problems." This was before I found the 4 rivets let go in the basket. I typed out the email I'm gonna send to Barnett today, during lunch. I'll send it this weekend probably.

Cool. Thanks for the advice and let us know what Barnett will say.
Yeh, kind of expected from the seller. . . Curious what the manufacturer's going to say...
Thanks.
