Miles
The dealership changed my tach assy....And now my miles went back to 0 when I already had the bike at 11500 miles...Can they input the miles back in the display? When I called them about this they said no!!!Is that true...Now I have to remember to add 11500 miles to the current reading..And then the service light will turn on when the bike is not due for servicing...Any solutions?

No vehicle that I have _ever_ heard of will let you "add" mileage to it...

I had my speedo replaced and was told it was Ill Eagle to change the odometer. I had 36750 km on mine. I was going to get it reset to 16750 (ssshhhh)
If I were in your shoes I'd just call it 12 000 miles in our head. get it serviced and you've lost nothing. You orta just get out and ride it big time over the next few weekends and get some milage up on it.

Curious -- why did they replace your Speedo assembly?

sorry mate... bike sank into the road surface a little.. road a little off camber and she fell over.. I was sitting beside her haha. mirror brackets came through and split the speedo assy. long story, I posted it last year but can't find it now. the damn thing just fell over.. $4 500 damage.. what can you do but laugh??
Back to thread... I'd be happy losing 10 000 miles.. it's only you who knows if you bought it new. if you keep it looking good why would anyone doubt you?

I don't know how it is elsewhere but here in England it's only illegal if you 'clock' the odometer and then try to sell it as having done less miles, as long as you inform any buyer then it is not a problem. I really don't see how it could be any different anywhere else, I mean if your speedo/odo breaks and you need a new one what else can you do? - having said that if it is digital I'm certain that it 'can' be altered from a laptop with the correct software, there are many less than reputable car 'dealers' that offer mileage 'correction' services.
My bike shows 11,000 miles less than actual as I changed the speedo to an Mph one (the original was in Kmh) and people often comment what a low mileage it's got but I'm not trying to fool anyone and I've still got the Kmh Speedo in the garage anyway.
