No high beam??
I have a 2000 996. I just took off my track skins and put on my street stuff and my high beam light does not work. I am pretty sure it is my high beam . Sitting on the bike, the light on the left is on. I checked the fuses, bulbs, and switched the light relays. The right light will not come on at all when I turn on the high beams. Any help/guidance will be greatly appreciated..Thanks, Jay

Yepp. probably a bulb.
Specs are: H1 55w stock bulb.
You need to remove your front fairing and your headlight to change it. Remember to point the bike at a wall from a known distance to see what height to re-adjust the headlight to after you´ve taken the headlight of the headlight holder and replaced the bulb.

Check that your getting voltage to the wiring

Thanks a bunch for the replies, but I have a new headlight and it still does not work. I am going to replace both relays then start with the wiring. Thanks again

I'd check the connectors @ the bulb. I've had two connectors fry/melt on me causing an intermitent shorting...

The connectors are good.... I replaced the relays and the light worked...then I mounted the lights, tried the high beam again, and it was not working..WTF. I tested the relays with a 12 volt battery and a ohm reader. the relays were clickin and registered 0 resistance, which usually means they are good..once again WTF? Can I have a short somewhere? The wires look good, fuses are good. Damn finicky Italian motorcycles. Thanks for the help..Jay

Well I just went out into the garage to throw some stuff in the dryer. I tried the lights on the bike, and the high beam works!!! I have no idea what is going on. My next call is going to be to a priest, so he can exorcise my Duc!!

What about the switch? bypass it @ the fuse and complete the circuit to ensure your circuit is good without the switch in play...

I figured the switch would be good, cause my horn and signals work. The light is still working now, so I think it could have been the relay. It is still weird how the light would work when it wanted to. Thanks for the replies..
