1098 tricolore HP catalytic converter question?

i'm about to get a 07 tricolore & i'm wondering if the terminoni's that come stock on this bike are different from the full system that i would put on it if i got a 1098s? dose it have a catalytic converter ? if i bought a 08' 1098s & put the full system on if would if give more of a hp boost?
the stats for HP stats for the tricolore & the regular 1098s with the stock pipes are the same.
thanks

The tri-color comes with the Termi slip on system (I belive you also get the regular exhaust with the bike because the slip on system isn't technically street legal). The cats are eliminated with the slip on system since they are part of the stock cans.

You will get more performance from the full system due to the larger header pipe diameter and removal of the exhaust valve. It's been argued that removing the exhaust valve and going to larger piping reduces low end torque.

Honestly though I think the bike has plenty of low end so this didn't concern me when installing the full 70mm system.

Don't know if the US differs from Canada, but to clarify, my T-C did not come with the Termi's "Stock" on the bike but were included in the price. THey (a full system, not slip ons or a half system) were shipped in a separate box (in the crate with the bike) with a racing ECU marked for "Track Use" or "Off Road" use only. Of course, like every guy I know of, they were installed by the dealer prior to delivery and the stock exhause put into the boxes and squirreled away in my garage probably never to be opened up again. There is no catalytic converter on the system.

While I did not put my bike on the dealers dyno, I watched every article written on the 1098 and the only comparison I saw was 139 RWHP stock and 149 RWHP with the full system and the ECU. The magazines were from the LA area so it is probably close to sea level. I may be wrong but (for the thousanth time) but to get the benefit of the system, you need the ECU as well.

As an aside, one of my friends put a full system and the ECU on is base model and it turned 142 RHWP at our 3800 foot altitude.

I have asked DNA to confirm how many Tri-Colores were shipped to North America and they will not tell me. Cautious questioning has indicated that 200 to 250 came to the USA and 32 to 34 into Canada. If anyone has more accurate numbers than that, I sure would like to know them. Calgary is a hot bike market and 13 or 14 came here alone.

Hey Parabellum, I hope my email helps you decide. Overall I really like mine.

To the rest of you, any better estimates on numbers into North America?

Thanks!

yes it did help a lot thanks man.
& yes your are rite in the us the tricolore dose come with the termis but the 1098s dose not.
so it seams that for the money i'm better off getting the used tricolore with the termis for $21,000 than getting the new 848 + termis, tax ,freight etc. for the same price. i have a loan so i have to go through my dealer pulse i'm loyal to my local shop. or i would just get it privately.
i'm all so afraid i wont like the shoa forks, i have bin lucky enough to have only ridden ohlins
