temperature range for 1999 996

Hello,

I am a new owner of a 1999 996 with 6000KMs. Options include a termi exhaust and chip.

I have ordered a manual and haynes manual.

Until then I was wondering what the temperature operating range is (low range and high range).

Yesterdays ride had the bike temp hover below 180 (highway driving) and then jump to just below 210 stuck in some traffic. It did not go above 210. Outside temperature was approx. 75 degrees. Bike was not being driven hard.

At what temp does the fan turn on?

Comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

That sounds about right to me.. Mine goes up to almost 240 when itīs warmer and Iīm standing at a stoplight. Fans come on and bring it back to ~210

If your worried about overheating, that will not happen at an ambient temp of 75..
When you get to 80 and above, THEN it starts to become a concern, but only in traffic.

I think you're OK too.

FWIW, the stock fan switch is spec'ed to turn on/off at 198F/189F. The Evo low temp switch is spec'ed on/off at 190F/174F.

That sounds exactly like what mine runs at... and 748s don't even have oil coolers to help keep the bike cool. Then again, I live in Cold-orado lol.
