Anyone here racing this weekend at RA? I'm running Thunderbike & Formula 40 with the little 748. Should be fun. Probably get smoked but who cares. Comp# 197 is my number if you care to stop by and shoot the breeze.
Hi Viper, I will be there. I will be running LW Formula Fourty and Thunderbike on a 748 as well. I have no problem getting smoked and have done so for years. Keeping the expectations low is not a bad plan but don't be surprised if you do much better than you think. Last year I finished 4th in the first amf40 race on saturday, and I won it on sunday! I got promoted to pro this year and am looking to just stay ahead of the amateurs for 4 laps. I believe I will get passed by the thunderbike amateurs but I have a shot at keeping the F40 amateur bikes behind me. Just wave politely as you go by. Best wishes for your races.
I will look you up there, we (Jeff runs a SV650 and I), will be pitted in the upper paddock, paved and electricity. I am very interested in the single sided exhaust you had for sale. Any chance you will bring it with you. I have lots of race parts for the 916 era bikes, gear to trade, anything you are looking for? Brad #25
Brad - I sold that exhaust to a guy out in Cali. But I am still interested in your 916 parts! Also my comp #197 and will certianly look for you guys Should be fun and see you there!
Noaa weather says no rain this weekend for Sheboygan. I will bring the rain tires for the race bike and that alone should be enough to prevent any rain this weekend.
As for camping it looks like $40 for the weekend for a tent.
Here is the CCS website link for Road A camping. http://www.ccsracing.us/venues/rules/roadamerica/camping rules - competitors.pdf
Hopefully CU there. Brad.
As cheeseheads we all know one thing. If it will rain anywhere in North America it will be at RA. I worked For RA for 30 years and always had a rain suit handy.
Unbelievable, I'm working in milwaukee, and the weekend I decide to go home, there's a race to go to. Please update if there's anymore events on the way.
Too funny but I actually end up winning on Saturday! Didnt even know it until Sunday night as it took forever for them to post the results and I didnt feel like waiting around!! Had a fun time for sure!
Congrats on the win. I came by the track Saturday morning but they didn't have a one day ticket and I was too cheap to buy the weekend pass to only stay an hour or two.
Did have a good time heading back to Illinois through Kettle Moraine though.
Very cool....Boy I look fat in my leathers! Not bad, you had me in your sights....the last lap I had a false neutural going into the kink in the back and I could hear you coming! I looked back going up the front straight thinking you were going to blast by me. Not bad for a 98 748 though....it was fun for sure. Thanks for sharing the video!
Congrats on the win!! and even better you had a good day at the track. I wish mine would have run better it would have been fun to have a few laps with you. It was my pleasure meeting you as well. Track video with yourself on it is just awesome to see. The video is from a dude we call Tammy. He runs the white BMW lateral twin, cannot remember his number for the life of me, the BMW is with the Dr. Sues graphics on it. The bike is heavy, but boy does he do a great job on it. Capital View , pro #60 runs an SV 650 and was running really well, I dont think he is seen other than at the beginning of the race. I have not looked at results but i would not be surprised if he was third expert in F40 or better. Again great to see you at the track and congrats Brad.
I wasn't in the race That Viper and Tammy were in. I only did LW F40 on Saturday and then LW F40 and GTL on sunday.
Here is my GTL race against Tammy. I actually got down to a 2:46 on the last lap. May have gotten 2:44-45 if I hadn't screwed up Canada Corner so bad. Over ran it and was in a gear to high. Lugged it out into 13. Ended up 7th in the GTL race. 7th in LW F40 on Saturday and 3rd in LW F40 on Sunday. I dramatically improved from Saturday to Sunday. Took 14 seconds off my best time from Saturday! I had to take a bunch of rebound out of my front end. That made a huge difference.
Tammy is on a 1999 BMW S1100. It weighs 470 lbs! That thing has no front end dive under braking though, so he can brake hard into corners. It is a telelever front end.
Brad, I hope you get your bike sorted out. Missed you out there on Sunday!
Oh, look what I picked up! I got it used with 77 miles on it!
