uh oh.... Wrench light came on on dash? i JUST had 6k service..
(Ducati 749)
Well it started flashing at I dunno, 6150, 6200 miles? And after some more miles went solid.. I almost stopped and tried to assess this but I figured it would be fine?
I'm assuming that X amount of miles after 6k it flashes to remind you of service due?
Well now its solid and won't go off. If I am correct, how can I reset the 6k timer?
I'm assuming that's what it is...

Only the dealer can re-set that light.

Dealer should have told you that you hadn't reached the appropriate mileage for the wrench light to come and that you'd have to come back. The trigger is based on Km, so the actual mileage number is a little whacky:
600 mile service light comes on at about 621 (1000 Km)
6000 mile service light comes on at about 6213 (10000Km)
7500 mile service light comes on at about 7456 (12000Km)
Doh!

Turn on the key with the LH dash button depressed. Works like that on my SS, not sure about my 999R as I used my VDSTS to reset that.

Holding the button while cranking doesn't work on the XX0 bikes. That little wrench being on doesn't do a darn thing. Mine's been on for about 15,000 miles now :-)

If that works, button and key. Let me know please. I know from reading the manual you can get into some programing modes on the 999 panel if you are not careful. So there must be some walk around to that and other setting Ducati does not want to reveal. Any good hacks out there? Of course they tell you to turn the key off and take the bike to the dealer.
