Any diff between 916 sps friction plates and regular 916

Hi, all I hope sombody can help with my clutch problem, I own a 916sps (97) recently I bought a complete clutch from ebay as my slipper one had gone to bike heven. it was just a stock one of a 996 and I had no problems installing it. set the stack hight and disc placement (hope it was right) after 200 miles it started to slip when bike was hot to the point the bike would crawl. The bike over heated and coolent started to over flow. when the bike is cold but warmed up no slip at all. My question is are there any differences between a sps clutch pack and a stock one there is a diff of 100 bucks between them. any special stack hight or setting for an sps and how thick should friction plates be before they are gone. can I just add steel plates to compensate. if I do need to change plates would the barnetts ones work well? sorry so many questions. thanks guys

The SPS clutch pack uses sintered (metal) friction material and has a couple more (thinner) plates but you can use the SPS or Stock pack in any bike as they are fully compatible, I believe there is a minmum/maximum pack thickness which you can alter with thicker or thinner steel (plain) plates - keep your old ones.

I have the SPS pack in my 916 and it works better and has lasted longer than the original setup, as you say it costs about $100 more - but worth the extra IMHO as the cheaper pack will slip easier and makes more squealing noises. although the SPS pack makes more rattling/hissing noises.
