Fuel filter change 999

For those who are thinking about taking this on it is a very easy job! Much to my surprise it went rather quickly, until I had to put the fuel pump back in. It takes some patience to get that rubber "O" ring to seat properly, but that's the hardest/easiest part of the change.
That said the bike definately runs much better for sure! My filter had almost 9,000 miles on it and the new filter made abig difference.

So how long did it take you? I am in the process of doing mine but I am having a hard time getting the assembly back inot the tank without the O ring binding. How snug was your O ring when sitting in its groove? Mine seems to be a little loose. I have put a decent amount of white lithium greese on the ring and rim of tank but that thing wont go on.

I got the new O ring today and had the bike back together and runing in 15 minutes. Boy, didnt realize a old O ring could cause such a headache. I literaly couldnt get the assembly back in wiht the old ring.

I hope I helped a little. I the exact same problem that you described above, only I had a new O ring, but used the old one Once I put the new ring on the pump, it eased right down into the tank!

I've got a pile of those filters next the the pile of the O-rings.

Was that you that just bought one on ebay from me?

I'll get the part number here in an hour or so, or you can get it from me, either way.

Desmo Times has all the maintenance parts you'll need for your 999! I wish I would have used him, but he was away serving our country for a bit. The dealer was way to expensive for such parts as these. I did buy a clutch basket holder from him though. Got in a couple of days and is a really durable, nice tool. He got all the good stuff !
