Guys Racing 1098's what performance mods?
I'm going to be racing a 998 Biposto this year. The bike had a bunch mods when I bought it, the pipe that came on it had a patch that gave way so in purchasing a new pipe I found a deal on an exhause and S cams for the bike. So with the S cams the bike is making about 135hp, it will now just almost keep up with a new SS 600. Probably in upgrades just to the engine, air box etc, there is probably 6K of work. When I had the cams put in, one of the shops I spoke to said they could get high 140hp if I blueprinted the engine and did a whole slew of upgrades which would probably cost around 7K.
What types of things are you doing to your 1098 and what types of results are you getting? How much is it costing? This is my first Duc and after this year I'm considering upgrading to a 1098, just trying to get a handle on what I can expect and what kind of bang you are getting for your bucks.
Thanks
Z

I'm going to be racing a 1098 this year, and pretty much i'll be doing the basics, slip on, rear sets, slipper clutch, and ohlins damper. The bike stock though is fantastic, motor wise it has plenty of horsepower and loads or torque. To me (i'm sure everyone has different opinions) but as far as handling i definietly prefer the 1098 to the 998, it feels loads lighter. If you're looking for one though give me a call at 973-584-0810, i'm sure i could get you a deal.

I watched a guy on a stock 996 kick the pants off a guy running a Modena converted 1098S. We are talking 70 mm Ti 2-1-2 exhaust, Corse slipper, Corse Ti everything inside of the engine, Corse uprated ECU etc. Upgrades cost just over US$60k apparently.
You can do nothing but smile about it all. A stock US$7k machine absolutely killing a factory tuned bike.......
Ride the pants of that machine you have and spend the money you saved on upgrading a 1098, or just buy the 1198R and be done with it.

I don't doubt there are guys out there on 125's that would beat the pants off of me. I'm drooling over the 1098's, I'm done upgrading the 998 and will give it all I can this year. Just curious what kinds of power upgrades people are getting.
