Thumbs up EVR Slipper Clutch - MUST SEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pics would upload: See website for pics. Thanks!

I went to EICMA with a goal of finding the best slipper clutch for my 1098 and to see the new 848 and 1098R. Some of you may have seen my thread asking about slippers already.

Within the first hour I saw a slipper clutch that blew me away, and looked different than the others I had seen, and this is when I met Edo Vigna, who is the inventor of the slipper clutch! Like an idiot I had no idea who he was, but proceeded to ask him 100 questions and he was nice enough to show me the STM/Bucci designs he invented and compared them to his EVR slipper. I was blown away and this is what I found out:

Who is Edo?:

Edo Vigna was Ducati engineer for their SBK race team about 15 years ago and is the inventor of the slipper clutch! He also developed the clutch for STM and Ducati’s Bucci. He also has a superstock team in Italy.

The EVR Slipper Clutch (I hope I explain this correctly, if you see something questionable please let me know):

According to Edo his new patented slipper is the next evolution of the slipper clutch. The old style slipper clutches (STM, Bucci, etc.), have a moving central hub that puts pressure on the ramps at different angles and cause friction between the clutch plates and the clutch drum causing excess friction and wear on the discs. The other issue he explained is that the bearings of the old style are made from steel and aluminum, which creates a mismatch in metals both from a fatigue standpoint and the simple fact that the two metals don’t work well together. (old clutch in pics)

This problem doesn't happen with EVR slipper clutch because the clutch drum doesn't move up and down, but is fixed. Only the cover of the hub moves. Also, there are no ball bearings or different metals coming into contact with each other.

Rather than relying on ramp angles, the control of the torque/slippage system can be adjusted by replacing the spring weights and/or adding and subtracting springs.

The CTS model for Ducati’s with a dry clutch includes all parts and mounting hardware for the slipper clutch system including the 1) inner clutch and steel sintered clutch plates (most kits force you to buy new plates!!), 2) the housing clutch with 48 hemispherical grooves, and 3) ventilated pressure plates (multiple colors), which also lower the function temperature by about 10%. I believe the only piece not provided is the larger diameter washer required for the 1098, but this is included for all other Ducati’s. (see pics)

I see that Proitalia has the kit for $1,795.00. I asked Edo if he would give our Ducati group a special deal and he said that if I can get at least 10 orders and import them back to the US myself (I also live in Italy) then we can have them for around $1,400.00 a piece. even with the weak dollar! Remember this is for the full kit. (http://www.edovignaracing.it/)

Please PM me if you’re interested, so I can figure out if I can pull this off. I'm going to get one for sure. They come in multiple covers and he says you don’t need to run a cover.

Not trying to hijack or anything...don't know about them, the clutch looks nice. I have an STM Evoluzione and love it, will probably do this one if I ever need to switch:

Not sure how to do some comparo testing, but Edo showed me how the pieces moved, etc. and it made since. I was more convinced by the fact that he's the guy who invented the STM and Bucci slippers! I've done some research in Italy and a lot of the teams are using his product. It's expensive, but he warranties his product. I'm getting one 100%!

I visited Edo at thier shop in Torino and was also impressed with the product so stock them and spare packs. Just let us know if tou have a Corse transmission or a 1098 as they use the larger nut and washer.

So Ducshop sell and stocks these clutches. Then I'm thinking that a group buy (ten @ 1400...good luck) is cutting Ducshop out of business, and he paid for the ability to do business here...I'm locking her up...eventually

Hate mail at the usual address.

He may be the inventor of the Ducati slipper clutch but he wasnt the person to invent THE slipper clutch.

Hey Ducshop, I didn't realize that you carried them. EVR didn't come up with you when I did a google search. I'm not trying to cut into anyone's business, but just trying to figure out if the group can benefit from my contact with Edo here in Italy. Will you offer a discount for ducati forum members? Thanks!

No problem, wasn't saying you were cutting in just that you can get them for the same price from a U.S. Dealer. If a group of you want to get together we can sell them at $1400 ($1495 is our retail) and remember if you import them yourself there is shipping, wire transfer fees ect...

So group buy direct or through Ducshop??

I am very interested but which way is the group buy going? Thru DucShop or thru The Italian Connect...let me know...I am buying one in the very near future so this is a good opportunity for me.
