Exclamation Quality carbon fiber off of Ebay

Hi gang,

Im looking for some good quality carbon fiber parts for my 2002 ducati 748S off of ebay. I dont want that cheap stuff thats going to fade and look like crap, so no im not looking for the cheapest stuff out there, although Im not rich and want a good quality to price combo. Everyone on ebay makes their product sound the best and I want stuff that's been field tested by my fellow ducastistas, thanks for your help. I mean even if it's a lil price as long as the quality is good im open to that as well, but can't break the bank. Thank you!!-safe summer riding.

Both Carbon World and Shift tech have great carbon bits as well as being supporters of this forum. Anything else on ebay is a risk. Ive gotten carbon from both of the above vendors and its high quality stuff.

Spend some time searching around here. There have been plenty of quality threads about eBay rip-off artists.
I've bought a few different carbon pieces from various sources for various bikes.
I've found that, without exception, the old saying, "quality doesn't cost, it pays" applies to carbon bits 100%. There's no such thing as cheap, good quality carbon. The more you spend, the better it will look, fit, and last.
Ducati Performance seems to be the best, and most costly.
Shift Tech is the gold standard around here for high quality stuff that won't let you down- same quality as DP, but without the Ducati name brand bling tax.
Anything that you get from MotoWheels won't disappoint either.
As far as eBay goes, watch out for Chinese made carbon. Most all of it is poor quality fiberglass and resin with one sheet of carbon fabric laid over it to make it look cool.

The eBay shucksters that sell cheap and crappy carbon are based in Henderson, NV, and seem to change their username on a monthly basis. They also create new usernames frequently. Currently they have two that I'm aware of: "carbonperformance" and "o2carbonfiber."

Best carbon I've bought has come from Motowheels. Why the need to buy off Ebay?

Thumbs up carbon fiber

Dont necessarily have to buy off of ebay, but was using it as a good base reference point. I havent been on the forums here for like 5 months, glad to see you guys always are there for me. Just need a basic starting point, thank you very much for all your replies.

What is interesting is the variation in the Ducati Corse parts. Really, they are the lightest, but overall the finish is pretty shabby as they are designed as race pieces to be painted or whatever. I just bought a Ducati front fender and the CC leaves something to be desired. I had purchase a Duc CF airbox and the fit was perfection, the carbon, excellent, the actual finish... crap. So, if you want pure function Ducati. If you want excellent function and a great clean carbon look, shift tech or carbon world. Great prices too...

You really need to shop around for the appearance you want also as that can be a factor!! Some people want CF components for the lightest, most functional piece they can get regardless of looks. Me personally, I want the bling...being completely honest.

I've bought pieces from Ducati, Shift-Tech, and e-bay, but did A-LOT of shopping prior to any purchase. Here's my insignificant $.02

--Shift Tech is all around, best overall piece you can get! Build quality, fit, finish, is second to none. But their pieces are not clearcoated, just highly polished out. That being said, the finish is so top quality it honestly takes a second look to realize it's not a clear coated piece.
--Ducati...very very happy with the pieces I have from them. All of my Ducati pieces fit great (even my rear hugger) and they are clearcoated so the finish is outstanding.
--MotoWheels. Anything you get from motowheels is going to be an outstanding quality piece. But, it's not going to have a nice finish. Anything from there that I've ever looked at for my bike is dull and for me, I would have to take it and have some finish work done on it to be 100% completely happy with it.
--E-bay. No comment. The pieces I got were crap build and crap fit/finish. They look OK as far as the clear coated finish of the part, but you can tell it's a crap part. Got a smokin deal but given the chance to do over again I'd pass. With that said though, as crappy as the parts were, funny thing is they were still waaay lighter (noticeably so just in your hand) than the stock plastic covers.

My advice, save your money up, get all your pieces from Shift-Tech and sleep well at night. One things for sure, if you get everything from Shift-Tech, the finish (very important to me) and quality of all your pieces will be spot-on. You wont get that guarantee with any other vendor based on my experiences.
